Where it all started
In 1934 Mr. Th. Kropman founds Novum N.V.:
factory of heat technical devices.
Machinefabriek Novum B.V.
Under the umbrella of a renowned installation company, Novum N.V. is transformed into Machinefabriek Novum. Various products needed for heating systems are manufactured such as coal boilers, convectors, vessels and heat exchangers.
Cooperation with Ygnis A.G.
on producing boilers
In cooperation with the Swiss company Ygnis A.G., Novum starts building Ygnis boilers and is at the forefront of the development of the reverse-flame boiler.
Pyrotherm boiler development
In cooperation with Ygnis A.G., a complete new range of boilers, known as Pyrotherm boilers, is being developed. These boilers were first oil-fired but later switched to gas-fired boilers. In the Netherlands alone, more than 4,500 boilers of this type were installed between 1960 and 1990.
New factory in Oss
In 1961, Machinefabriek Novum opened its new factory in Oss, where the company has resided ever since.
Novum independent family business
In 1987, Mr. W. Beijen acquires the shares of Machinefabriek Novum. From that moment on Machinefabriek Novum continues as an independent family business and the cooperation with Ygnis A.G. is ended.
Construction of the largest reverse-flame boilers in Europe
Novum is commissioned to build Europe's largest reverse-flame boilers for the Academic Hospital in Groningen.
Pyrotherm is discontinued.
New boilers are developed under the brand name Novumax.
This type of boiler is characterized by a very wide fire passage which ensures low NOx production and optimum efficiency. This type of boiler is mainly used for heating the utility and industrial markets.
Novumax principle for steam boilers
The Novumax principle is being further developed for steam applications. This is mostly implemented as a waste gas adjustment boiler, especially in the health care industry.
E-Boiler development
Development and construction of first electric boilers for steam generation are in full motion!
Development of mobile ground steam boiler
Machinefabriek Novum is developing several mobile ground steam boilers. These boilers are equipped with a built-in steam superheater and downstream condenser, and are used in the agriculture sector, among others, but also find their way to the Wimbledon tennis courts.
Acquisition by Ernst Beheer
As of Jan. 1, 2024, the shares of Machinefabriek Novum will be acquired by Ernst Beheer B.V.
